Jorge Concha Visits Reichman University

January 2023

McDonnell Scholar Jorge Concha recently traveled to McDonnell Academy partner institution Reichman University as part of the Olin Business School MBA degree programming. 39 students participated in the joint WashU-Reichman University International Venture Advising course. Programming included a 7-day onsite course in Tel-Aviv in which students attended entrepreneurship classes, worked hand-in-hand with Israeli start-ups and corporate companies, and engaged with Reichman University students and Israeli start-ups at site visits activities and networking events.

As part of the course, Jorge met with KappaSense, a solution provider of Capacitive Encoders, seeking to make a significant contribution to our customers by delivering innovative sensing solutions. KappaSense is one of the 8 Israeli companies that Olin MBA students are advising in several aspects, like strategy, innovation, ESG, and operations among other challenges, during the spring semester as a continuation of the course.

Jorge says an additional interesting aspect of this course is the unique opportunity for 1st and 2nd-year full-time MBA students across cohorts in WashU to network and engage in the same class.

Concha attends Annual MBA Conference

May 2023

Jorge Concha recently represented WashU and Olin Business School at the Annual MBA US Conference. Over 230 people, many of them MBA students from top universities in the US, participated at this year’s convention hosted by Columbia University. The conference brought over 25 renowned speakers, among them politicians, Chilean business group leaders, representatives from American firms, and successful entrepreneurs. Six working sessions were held discussing sustainable development, political model and constitution, global entrepreneurship, and digital transformation, which provided many networking opportunities.

Jorge actively participates in the MBA Chile organization, working on several Chilean initiatives, utilizing his MBA network and experience not only at Washington University but connecting with Chilean people from other universities, and representing WashU in St Louis and its Olin MBA program in this organization. MBA Chile, an association that unites Chilean MBA students worldwide, encourages networking and generates a call to action around Chile’s social, economic, political, and environmental conditions. Part of MBA Chile’s mission is to encourage more Chilean women to apply to MBA programs. Currently, about 13% of Chilean applicants to MBA programs are women, the group estimates.
