Nur Aziz Octoviawan

McKelvey School of Engineering: Materials Science and Engineering (PhD)

Aziz Octoviawan earned a metallurgical and materials engineering bachelor’s degree from the University of Indonesia. After graduation, Aziz spent his professional career in engineering as a materials engineer on several LNG and refinery projects in Indonesia under the Chiyoda Corporation Group. He specializes in material welding technology and piping fabrications. Before joining Washington University in St. Louis, Aziz obtained a master’s in Materials Science at Missouri State University, where he studied advancing ultra-high temperature ceramics through computational modeling and artificial intelligence. At WashU, he is currently enrolled as PhD student in the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering at McKelvey School of Engineering. His research interests are related to additive manufacturing, materials modeling, and high entropy alloys. During free time, he enjoys visiting nature parks, reading books, and camping with his family.
