Agastya graduated from the Brown School of Social Work in 2009 with a master’s degree in Social Work. She gained working experience as a social worker in St.Louis and returned to Indonesia in 2011. In 2012, Tya joined the Department of Social Welfare at the Universitas Indonesia as an assistant lecturer and now as a lecturer. She teaches undergraduate courses in social welfare policies and systems. Tya is also affiliated as a Senior Researcher with the Center of Child Protection and Wellbeing at Universitas Indonesia (PUSKAPA). Through her work in PUSKAPA, she conducts research, advocacy, and program management on a systematic approach to provide vulnerable children and families access to social services, basic services, and justice. Tya is currently a full-time Ph.D. student at the University of Melbourne where she is working on research to explore family services to prevent family separation.
