    Michal Grinstein-Weiss is the Director of the Social Policy Institute at Washington University in St. Louis, Shanti K. Khinduka Distinguished Professor, and Associate Dean for Policy Initiatives at the Brown School, and the Director of the Centene Center for Health Transformation housed within the Social Policy Institute. She also holds a position as a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. She serves as an ambassador for the Institute, building critical relationships with investors, consultants, subcontractors, and colleagues across the University. A leading expert in the asset-building field, Dr. Grinstein-Weiss is influential in the design of innovative policies to promote household financial security and social and economic mobility, both in the United States and internationally. She also develops and tests behavior-based healthcare interventions and has led successful large-scale research projects for federal, philanthropic, and industry partners. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Society for Social Work and Research’s Deborah K. Padgett Early Career Achievement Award, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from the Brown School, a master’s in Economics from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a master’s and bachelor’s in Social Work from Haifa University, Israel.
