Matilde was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Upon high school graduation, she decided to move abroad to pursue her interests in design and community service. She worked on construction projects in several Latin American countries and then moved to Florence, Italy to get involved in the world of architecture and design. Four years later, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Florida where she graduated with honors. This past year, she worked in a Miami-based architecture firm called Doo Architecture. There, she worked in residential and high-end commercial projects. Her firm was chosen to participate in a design competition for a new mid-rise building in Surfside, Miami where they competed against other acclaimed international firms. After three months of deliberation the jury announced Doo’s proposal as the winning design for the new building. In her free time Matilde enjoys spending time outdoors, either hiking, biking or just enjoying the view. Lately, she has been attending yoga and ceramics classes where she finds a place for creativity and meditation.
