Joni is a graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, School of Visual Arts in Jamaica where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography. Her work has been exhibited in various group exhibitions and she had her debut solo exhibition, Textured Lines in November 2021. She was a participant in the inaugural La Práctica, a group intensive administered by New Local Space (NLS) from 2020 to 2021 offering professional development to young artists. Gordon was the Summer Artist-in-Residence at NLS from May to August 2021. She was a Catapult Grant awardee and is a 2021 awardee of the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development Seed Awards, awarded to promising young artists in the first five years of their careers. Joni is a passionate, dynamic and multifaceted artivist (art activist) who is always seeking suitable avenues and platforms to learn and expand her artistic skills and influence. Art is a medium she uses to address social issues in the world and more intimately, her country. Besides art, she enjoys reading and singing. Through projects, Joni wants to consistently work with youth in various communities and societies to develop sustainability in an ever-changing global environment.
