Dr. George Kyei’s research interests are in HIV latency and reservoir maintenance. More specifically, he is interested in how the virus is able to survive in patients in the face of strong immune pressure and potent anti-retroviral therapy. He is also interested in HIV eradication toward therapy-free remission in patients. Dr. Kyei’s’ research focuses on characterization of factors that control HIV replication in macrophages, dendritic and resting T cells, and identification of cellular factors and small molecules required for HIV reactivation in latently infected cells.
