Leo Lam

Lo Fellow
Arts & Sciences: Economics (PhD)

Leo Lam received a Master of Philosophy in Economics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018. After graduating, he decided to continue his studies and research in the United States. Leo is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the economics program at Washington University in St. Louis.

Leo’s primary area of research is macroeconomics. He is currently working on projects related to institutions and human capital development. He is interested in this topic because he considers institution quality as the most important factor for a nation’s success. Without one, people’s hard work is not protected; innovations could not happen; society stagnates. Therefore, he explores this field and wishes to apply his research to improve society, making it a better place for the people.

Leo believes that the best way to contribute as a scholar is through educating the youth who are the hope for our future. For this reason, he plans to begin his career in academia to pass on his knowledge and experience.
