Nathalia Gutiérrez Sacasa is passionate about the role of research and data in creating a more equitable world. Nathalia received their bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Macalester College in 2020. After graduating they worked at the University of Minnesota as part of research teams investigating Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease pathology, as well as opioid, cocaine, and methamphetamine addiction. Prior to arriving at WashU, Nathalia was a research coordinator at Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute, bringing a compassionate and equity-focused approach to addiction, health equity, and behavioral health research. As a research coordinator, Nathalia was an active member of the Center for Chronic Disease Reduction and Equity Promotion Across Minnesota, a collaborative center between the University of Minnesota, Mayo Clinic, and Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute, where they also served as a member of the Community Engagement Coalition.


Nathalia is pursing a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics at WashU. In their free time, Nathalia enjoys spending time outdoors and with their cat Guava.
