Lunch with a Leader recap with Dr. Jaymin Amin of Corning

In Spring 2025, McDonnell Academy Scholars had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Jaymin Amin, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Corning Incorporated, as part of the Academy’s Lunch with a Leader series. Scholars gathered for an engaging, in-person conversation on campus, gaining a rare opportunity to hear directly from a global innovation leader.

Amin shared insights from his impressive career journey—from senior research scientist to CTO—highlighting the strategic and technical milestones that shaped his path. He also shared the core company values – quality, integrity, performance, leadership, innovation, independence & the individual and how they guide their corporate strategy.  According to Corning – “they live all seven, all the time around the world”. With more than $1B in research and 11 dedicated core research facilities – Corning’s expertise in glass and optics will continue. The conversation offered Scholars an inside look at how Corning sustains leadership in materials science and innovation, while also reinforcing the importance of agility, curiosity, and collaboration in advancing global technologies.

Of equal importance is the connection the McDonnell Academy has with an outstanding leader at Corning and the personal connections that were made over the course of the lunch.

The Lunch with a Leader series is a signature McDonnell Academy program that connects Scholars with distinguished professionals across the Academy’s global network to support leadership development in an intimate, interactive setting.
