Hoang Nam—special Academy Fellow—visiting from Vietnam National University

Dr. Hoang Nam, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of
Hochiminh City University of Technology, part of Vietnam National
University, will be visiting as a Fellow at the McDonnell Academy for the month of February 2008. Dr. Nam received his doctoral degree in
engineering in 2004 from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok.

While at Washington University, Dr. Nam will meet with Academy Scholars and ambassadors and will conduct research with Professor Shirley Dyke and her students from the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Nam has published extensively on topics such as cable vibration, passive vibration control, structural identification from vibration measurements, and time series analysis.
