Q. Am I eligible to apply to the McDonnell International Scholars Academy?

A. If you are a graduate of one of the McDonnell Academy's University Partners and have applied or intend to apply to a Washington University in St. Louis graduate or professional degree program, you may submit an application for consideration to the McDonnell International Scholars Academy. Please visit our graduate and professional education page for more information about eligible programs and for online applications.

Q. What is the application process?

A. The McDonnell Academy accepts applications October 1 through February 1 every academic year via an online application. You will be asked to provide basic information and a 1,000 word essay.

Q. I have already applied to a Washington University graduate or professional degree program but have just determined that I am eligible to apply to the McDonnell Academy. What should I do now?

A. Your next step should be to complete the online application.

Q. I have yet to apply to a WUSTL graduate or professional degree program and would like to apply to the McDonnell Academy. What should I do now?

A. Applying to a WUSTL graduate or professional degree program and the McDonnell International Scholars Academy are separate application processes. It is required that you complete and submit applications to both your chosen degree program and the McDonnell International Scholars Academy to be considered for admission to the Academy. Please visit our graduate and professional education page for more information about our programs and for online applications. The McDonnell Academy also offers an online application.

Q. Is there any further information I need to provide to the McDonnell Academy in addition to the application?

A. No. Only your completed application is necessary. A 1,000 word essay is part of the application.

Q. What if I need to update or change information on my application?

A. Please send an e‐mail to mcdonnell@wustl.edu stating your name, University Partner, degree program to which you have applied to at Washington University, and your updated or changed information. Please document "Application Change" in the subject line.

Q. How do I confirm the McDonnell Academy has received my application?

A. Once your application is submitted a confirmation of information received will appear on your screen immediately. No e‐mail confirmation of submission is sent.

Q. When will acceptances or regrets be determined?

A. The McDonnell Academy Steering Committee reviews each application thoroughly. Decisions are typically made by the end of March, and no later than mid‐April. Please keep in mind that application reviews can be a lengthy process and the timeline is subject to change.

Q. How am I notified of the decision? Can I check the status of my application online?

A. Applicants are notified of decisions via e‐mail. There is no online resource available that allows applicants to check the status of their application.

Q. How many Scholars are admitted to the program each year?

A. On average, 12‐15 Scholars are admitted each year.
